It was originally decided that the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels would be starting from the 11th of January. As per original information the train was supposed to be operated from January to March 2009 and then from October 2009 to March 2010.

Since its inception there has been a couple of alterations in the schedule of the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels. As per the original itinerary the third day of the journey was to be spent at Bikaner but now the train is going to Jaisalmer. As per the new itinerary two new locations have been added to the itinerary of the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels – Sawai Modhopur and Udaipur.
