Luxury Train Of India Information About Deccan Odyssey was launched by in association with Indian Railways Ministry. Ever since its inauguration this train has been successful and can be aligned with the best royal trains of the world like the Blue Train of South Africa, The Orient Express of Europe and the Eastern and Oriental of South East Asia.The MOU between Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and the Indian Railway Ministry was signed in Feb 2001 and by the end of year 2003, Deccan Odyssey in its blue Limousine design was ready to be launched. 16th January 2004, the day when the Green flag unfurled for the maiden journey of the Deccan Odyssey, became a glorious day in the history of the Indian Railways and a boon to Indian Tourism as well.

This beautiful blue Limousine on rails is the brainchild of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). An MOU for the Deccan Odyssey was signed between the Railway Ministry and the MTDC in Feb 2001 and the Railway Board's go-ahead signal was received by the ICF (Integral Coach Factory) in May 2002. It took nearly five months to finalize the design of the coaches and another five months to complete the construction.
